About PayCom

Sorensen Insurance was founded in 1940 by Svend Sorensen. His grandson, Peter Sorensen, entered the business in 1978 as a representative with National Guardian Life Insurance of Madison, Wisconsin, providing life insurance, disability insurance and annuities. The firm continues to represent National Guardian Life (not affiliated with the Guardian Life Insurance Company of America, a/k/a The Guardian or Guardian Life) as it has in western Wisconsin and southern Minnesota since 1940.

In 1985, the firm became known as Sorensen Financial when investments were offered. Securities are now provided through Sentra Securities Corporation, member NASD, SIPC.

Peter was promoted to a management role with National Guardian Life in 1987. Eventually offices were located in La Crosse, Wisconsin, Winona and St. Paul, Minnesota in addition to the Red Wing, Minnesota location.

In 1993 the firm was recognized as Agency of the year by National Guardian Life.

The business was incorporated as Sorensen Flexible Benefits, Ltd., in 1989. The PayCom Business Services division was launched that same year. PayCom provides employee benefit plan design, communications, and administration. The firm’s focus became the growth of the employee benefits services offered by PayCom.
